(and why that Interior Designer should be me!)
Hi, I’m Savannah and I’m so glad you’re here at it’s savvy talk – a designers perspective.
Are you currently in the process of building a new home? Or thinking about it? You need an Interior Designer on your ‘A Team’ (if you’re located on the NW Coast of Tasmania I’m the Interior Designer for you)!
Let dive right in with reason number 1!
1. S t r e s s l e s s
Building a new home is a stressful time… there’s so many decisions to be made from tile selection to paint colour. It can feel like you’re expected to become a pro and make decisions on topics a far cry from your usual day job such as…
‘What flooring would you like in the hallway? Real timber? Laminate? Vinyl?’
‘Do you want a 200mm or 300mm over hang on your island bench top?’
‘Where do you want your lighting placed, and what style of lighting scheme have you envisioned?’
These might be simple questions if you’re a flooring sales person, joiner or electrician, but if you’re not, the pressure to find all the answers can quickly take its toll.
That’s where I come in.
It is my day-job to understand all of the products on offer and which ones have the features you need to achieve your new-home goals. I’ll explain all of your options (along with their pros and cons) so you can make every decision with confidence, no stress!
Just recently Karli and Troy asked me to jump on board and help them design their kitchen, here’s what they had to say….
We’re busy parents and we knew from a previous renovation that designing a (beautiful!) new kitchen from scratch takes a whole lot of effort. We had a vision but I was really nervous about how we could possibly make all the decisions we needed to under the time pressures we had. Savannah helped us in more ways than one. Because she knew what we needed, she narrowed the decisions we had to make down to an incredibly manageable number and even then she was right there to talk through them with us. Savannah came along to our joinery showroom meeting and answered all the technical questions there and then. We didn’t have to go away and research anything. We literally made all the decisions for our kitchen in less time than it takes watch a movie on Netflix!

3. A v o i d c o s t l y m i s t a k e s
It’s no secret that making mistakes leaves us feeling disappointed and underwhelmed. Most of us will do anything to avoid it!
Luckily I have an amazing tool up my sleeve to help you do just that – it’s called 3D rendering.
A 3D render is a virtual model that turns your 2D flat floor plans (so hard to decipher!) into a realistic three dimensional image of a single room or your whole home. I can also build in colours, materials, fixtures and lighting so you can ‘see’ all your choices come together before any expensive decisions are locked in.
What I love about this service is seeing the relief on my clients faces when they realise that they don’t have to make decisions based on tiny sample colour chips and Pinterest images, it’s priceless!
